Good Things Come in 3s

1. Last night, I went to the gym, even though it was freezing. I needed to go for a run. My gym has set all the treadmills to stop after 30 minutes, in order to prevent people from hogging them for hours on end. The other day, I found one that is actually set for an hour. To challenge myself, I decided that since I didn't have my usual time restrictions (I can run only a little over 2 miles in a half an hour. Yes, I know I am a slow runner. Shut up.), I would just start running and see what happened. I decided to just run as long as I could.

Forty-five minutes later, I was STILL RUNNING.

I ran almost 4 miles. I still can't believe it. I haven't run that far since I was 13. The crappy part was that I would have kept going, but I was seriously dying of thirst and getting bored! And I didn't have any pain in my shins or my knees or anything. It was frickin AWESOME. The first mile didn't even feel like anything. It was so easy.

At one point, a guy got on the treadmill next to me, and he started running. I was still running when he stopped running. I LOVE it when that happens. I'm a little competitive like that, I guess.

I have no idea how many stars had to align in the sky in order for this to happen, but I really hope it happens again. I felt like a rock star.

2. I got up early this morning and hit the gym again, this time to do a weight lifting class. So that was 2 work outs in 12 hours. I was pretty stoked about that.

Anyway, after the gym, I went to the store where CN bought that awesome water bottle for me. I told the manager my story and asked if he would order some more bottles for me. I told him the make and model of the bottle, and he said he knew exactly what bottle I was referring to. Then he told me it would be no problem at all for him to order some of them. And he was super duper nice about it!!! YESSSS!!! This is awesome.

They will be on the shelves on Sunday! Yippee!!!! Publix is the best store EVER!!!

3. Is sort of a secret. And it might not happen. I mean, things look good, but I don't want to count my chickens. Just let me say that if it happens, it will be BIG news. I won't spill the beans here, but if you email me and ask nicely, I might tell you. :)

A Fat Ass-Kicking

The coolest thing happened to me last night.

I finally dragged my flabby ass into the gym and faced the weight-lifting class I have been avoiding for months.

I'm walking into the classroom (I guess that's what you call it...it's a room...there are classess...anyway...) and who do I see?

FedSucksy. The asshole who stood me up last winter. And then tried to "apologize over coffee" last month, but then would never settle on a time and place, and so I got annoyed, my patience ran out and I just stopped answering/returning his calls.

Super. I had totally forgotten he went to my gym. (Secretly, I have to say, he's still pretty hot. But not hot enough for me to take his calls!) We had a courteous "hello" but that was it. Luckily, aside from the 10 pounds I have gained, I looked decent. Whew! Oh, wait. I forgot I have a big zit on my forehead. Oh well. I guess I shouldn't care.

So I am setting up for my class. And he walks in. It turns out, he also likes to take this class, I suppose. Wonderful. From where we were standing, I could watch him out of the corner of my eye--I was slightly behind him. Not that I was looking. Much.

Here is the cool part: I kicked his ass in class! He kept taking breaks and sitting down and pausing for a rest. This, of course, only motivated me further. I did every rep, (almost) every tricep dip*, every lunge and every situp.
Of course, I'm kind of sore today, but it was worth it.

Go. Me.

Since I can't high-five myself, y'all will have to send me virtual ones.

*Tricep dips-- have you ever done those things? They are hard as hell. Seriously, I thought I would die. I used to be able to do 30 of them in a row. I will have to work my way back to that. Especially now that I have to keep proving to him that I can kick his ass!!!! This is the best motivator ever. I wish every guy I've ever dated went to my gym. I'd be in the best shape!

Good News!

All I want to do is go swimming and eat at Applebee's. --Fungus

Fungus is my brother. He is in the National Guard, so he has been in Iraq for about a year now. I just got word that he is on his way home, and may even be stateside right now! Needless to say, the fam is pretty stoked about this. We didn't think he'd be home until the end of January, but now he will be home for Christmas. Then he will head back to college for his senior year.

He emailed me the other day, which is where the quote came from. He also said he wants to go to the mountains because there are real, actual trees there. And no sand.

My hometown is very, very small and since they have nothing better to do, rumor has it that his unit is going to be in the Christmas parade. OK, now I'm going to brag a little here...Fungus is up for a Bronze Star for bravery. He was a prison guard (no, he was not involved in the whole Abu-Gahraib thing) in Iraq and he prevented a big inmate escape plan--all by himself! He held off about 100 prisoners with nothing but a pistol for about a half hour. Yeah! That's MY brother!!! He was interviewed on Fox News and everything. Regardless of how you feel about the war, you gotta admit that is cool. I know I would have been hiding under my bed if I were in that situation!
